I watched the proverbial sunrise
Makena felt her paws slide a little upon the mud that had become of the terran of the plains. It was still the dryest of them all, even during the wet season, most of the felines seem to be spending time either here, or in their homes. But the female herself didn't have a place to call home, or even a companion to call a friend, or family. Which was why she was here, not that she didn't like the water infact, she would spend all her time in the swamps if she could. But that she wanted to find a wanderer such as herself, so far all the other creatures seemed to have shyed away from her. Her long saber teeth scared them, as if they had not seen the likes of her before, which in her mind she thought was the case.
Coming up over the Pacific and
Makena thought she was a freak, she haden't seen any others like her, and her heart ached for company. She couldn't survive for much longer as a loner, she needed somebody to guide her, to show her that they cared. Tears welled in her eyes before she could stop them, the salty water began to ran in streams down her pelt, washing the dirt away. Where the water had flown was now a bright green, instead of the dirty garbage green it had faded to in the dirt. Makena didn't spend much time on her appearance, she had thrown herself whole heartedly into her quest of finding someone like her. It didn't help her case much, her fur was matted and stuck out in tufts from rain and dirt caking onto her pelt.
You might think I'm losing my mind,
The sky above her was grey and streaked with thin lines of green and violent, the clouds were rolling violently, it was obvious all hell was about to break loose. But Makena would keep walking through it, her heart ached to much for her to notice her surroundings. the tears blurred her vision. She kept walking, the only action she knew besides breathing, her paws moved forward, carrying her forward. The action was what she knew, she knew hunger, thirst, the pain in her heart, and the hope that came with walking. With moving forward. A low growl came from her throat, strangled with emotion, barely audible, but it was enough. The yeoness threw her body to the ground, and waited for her god to strike her down, to do the one thing that was possible, to end her life.
But I will shy away from the specifics...

The light of day was shining through a thick, lovely layer of cirrostratus clouds. The wet season was a delight, settling in the warm territory of the savannah. Such a peaceful idea. Wonderful. The butterflies, horseflies, mayflies, and whatever other bugs had tripled their number since the Dry Season. Not to mention the mosquitoes. Every waking moment and perhaps even sleeping moment the buzzing and humming of those small creatures was already at it around Akoni's oh-so sensitive ears. Flowers though, brightened up the female's mood. Those pretty savannah flowers dotted the landscape.
A sigh escaped the blackened lips of the female. She was rather exhausted at this very time, having had to deal with fending for herself. But today, it happened that her mood recovered. It was the Wet Season after all. Akoni half-regretted not hunting earlier. Aye, the first Dry Season was supposed to be pleasantly warm. Soon, the second Dry Season was to come, after this pleasant Wet Season, and the prey would become more scarce.
So, with a bit of reluctance, the youthful feminine creature got to her feet, stretched, twisting her neck, and awoke. Her unfinished meerkat morsel had vanished. In a desperate attempt to find the leftovers, Akoni gave a worried yelp, letting her gaze wander from the sleeping area she had arranged. GoneĀ it was gone. Then she began strolling around to find the thief.
Her eyes fell upon a small, struggling creature, one of her own kind! "You there!" she exclaimed, finding a moment later that she had thrown herself on the ground. Rushing forward, she growled. "Did you steal my meal?!" she hissed, skipping introductions. Formalities...

'cause I don't want you to know where I am
Makena heard a voice and was tempted to look up, but decided against it, she would only be disappointed once more. The 'ess tried to use the destinct accent to clarify the speakers species, it was not the deep rumble of a tiger. Nor was it the nasally hiss of a lion, she wondered for a second if it was a Mikashi, but decided agasint it. The speaker did not have the quick over pronounced words of the cheetah like feline that had recently populated the plains.
'cause then you'll see my heart
Suddenly she realized the music like tone with the slightly slurred words, sounded almost like her own. But of course it had a different tone because this was a different person, Makena opened one eyelid slowly. Sure enough in her sight was a bright green paw, which would have matched her own, if her own wasn't completely disguised by mud. Opening her other eye the 'ess looked up, and the speaker looked angry, the yeoness quickly ran over her words in her mind.
In the saddest state it's ever been.
Suddenly Makena's temper flared, she stood with a roll of her gems, the feline was nearly skin and bones. 'Do I look like I've eaten lately?' she growled angrilily, the only blood was on the bottom of her paw. And it was obviously weeks old, a deep maroon colour, coming from a thorn, which was still in her flesh. Her mane was shorter then the other females, and her teeth longer but Makena was satisfied by finding this creature, they were from the same species, Makena was no longer alone.
This is no place to try and live my life.

Akoni watched Makena with caution. Ok, maybe there wouldn't be another kill today. Frankly, she was tired after sleeping all day, and this Yeoness didn't seem quite as insolent. Well, she hoped not. Then again she could just be putting on some wild act and trying to trick Akoni, or something. Of course, that was paranoia, a very rare occurrance in Akoni. It wasn't that she was naive- but she tried to maintain a balance between being sure nothing would happen and being sure something would happen. Anyway. She reclind on her haunches, gaze focusing shortly on Makena. So. Well. She wasn't insolent, obviously she didn't steal her missing meal. She inhaled deeply, and spoke in a rather tired voice.
"My mistake."
She nodded, trying to enforce that. But it didn't matter now. Ok. Well. Thank god. Akoni really couldn't be bothered biting this female's head off (literally). Maybe if this female was trustworthy enough she could have her as an aid in a hunt. Then again, they'd only exchanged a few sentences altogether. But of course, she was hungry still and small bits of prey didn't keep her hunger at bay.
Though, there was no chance in having this female help her with that wound in her paw. Silly Akoni, not having detected that earlier. Sauntering a bit closer, the female tried to study the cause at a closer view. "What happened?"

Stop right there. That's exactly where I lost it.
Makena nodded when the other female noted her mistake, it was fine as she had quite the temper herself it seemed. 'Nobody's perfect,' she answered flatly, she wasn't trying to be rude she just didn't have alot of practice with talking to others. She sat down again, careful to keep any weight off of her injury lifting it gingerly she licked the wound a few times. It was a desprate attempt at getting the dirt out, though she knew that it was impossible to do anything for the cut with the object still inside of it.
See that line. Well I never should have crossed it.
She was startled by the other's voice, she followed her gaze back to the paw in question and sighed. 'Crocodile tried to bite my head off, the bush I led him through was full of thorns, he got the worst of the deal though." Makena chuckled satisfied at the thought of that idiotic creature covered in thorns as he limped away ashamed. Exhaustion and hunger was beginning to seep through her as the conversation wore on.
Stop right there. Well I never should have said
It seemed her happiness would have to wait though as sleeping was impossible with her stomach shuddering the way it was. Hunting was impossible with the injury, the female lowered herself slowly untill she was lying down. This position was the most comfortable as it needed no weight to be placed on her paw, it was all on her torso. A sigh quivered through her lips and she shut her eyes breifly, she opened them after a long moment and looked up at her company. She was thankful that this female didn't seem in the mood to fight her, she was in no condition, 'I am Makena,' she said suddenly realizing she haden't introduced herself.
That it's the very moment that

Akoni sat calmly and quietly before this female, awaiting a response. She had arrived her in this odd place some time ago, and this was the first of her kind she had seen in quite some time. She chuckled at the flat answer and was being most patient, sitting straight up at his little piece of the circle, ears erect, watchful eyes observing all that took place.
Her overcoat, and the lighter fur beneath, ruffled a bit in the unseen tendrils of the wind, drenched slightly in the water, and she thought again, concentrating her mind on the story being told. It was not good for one's mind to wander during a story such as this, Akoni told herself. In fact, it was disrespectful. Focusing hard on the tasks at hand before her, Akoni became the pure statue of patience, respect, and silence, and waited for her turn to arise.
Her tail flicked a bit behind her in apprehension, but this was the only indication, save that look in her eyes, that she was any bit nervous about being around such a strong feline. For having settled herself comfortably in this new territory, Akoni still had a rather cub-like quality about her; the ability to be nervous, be impatient, and being impulsive every now and then when appropriate.
"Akoni, is what you may call me." She motioned to that injury, nose wrinkled. "Don't you think we should do something about that? It's quite a nasty injury and we can't leave it in that state." Of course, Akoni really had no clue on what to do about mending it. But first, that thorn had to come out.

I wish that I could take back.
As Makena told her story she watched the female infront of her, at first she seemed to fidget then she became perfectly still. Not sure how to act the 'ess copied her sitting up as straightly as possible and holding still except for the odd flip of the tail. The pain shot up her leg and she fell back to the ground with a quiet moan of pain escaping her lips. Normally she was strong and hot blooded but the pain seemed to rule her life now, reminding her of it's presence with every movement she made.
I'm sorry for the person I became.
Makena nodded weakly when Akoni spoke her name, 'A pleasure, I'm sorry I'm such soar company at the moment.' The words were spoken sincerely, the yeoness was embaressed by her display of weakness but also glad that she had any company to begin with. The words that crossed Akoni's lips next suprised Makena, 'Well I'm not sure what we can do, I've tried as much as I can it's pretty deep.'
I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change.
The yeoness raised the injury closer to her eyes for her to observe, it was getting worse infection was threatening. The the thorn had deep gouges from her teeth, her claws everything pulling at it, it hadn't budged and inch. Blood matted around the wound dyeing her fur a gruesome maroon colour, mixed in with chunks of mud and rock. She felt as if she was growing extra skin to had onto her height, but only on one foot making the limp ten times worse.
I'm ready to be sure I never become that way again
