Vix slipped over the familiar terrain. Her dark brown pelt hid her sleek and slender form easily in the dark shadows gathered under the trees. Not a sound stirred the rain forest this night, tigers were sure to be out. It was quiet, dry nights like this that they hunted most it seemed. Vix wandered aimlessly over her surroundings, her lofty gait and low to the ground stance as she drifted ghost-like through carpets of ferns made her look much like a tiger herself. Breaking into a clearing, Vix stood up and her eyes scanned the scene. Her nose sniffed and her ears listened very carefully. There was nothing here. Slinking back into the shadows the brown lioness hurried silently across a cushiony jungle floor. Her powerful legs turned away and towards a large tree where she hurled herself against its side and expertly climbed to the branches above. Each movement from her lithe body was as confident as any tiger's.
From atop the branches, high above the tiny jungle path the branch overhung, Vix waited. Her limbs clung to the thick branch beneath her as her senses listened to the silence of this confined place. Vixmyssin's tail rested behind her without a flicker of movement, and she continued to watch, hoping to get at least one good meal this night before dawn. A rustle in the bushes below grabbed her attention, however, it only turned out to be a monkey, of which Vix refused to eat. Their hide was dirty and she had nothing against their kind anyway. Vix watched for a moment as the monkey wandered on the floor of the rain forest, apparently looking for something between the foliage. Perhaps it had dropped something?
Resting her slim head between her paws, Vix began to drift off into a slumber, just enough to keep her rested, many had made the mistake of thinking she was not aware while in this position. How wrong they were, in the rain forest everyone knew you could not solely trust your eyes, so Vix learned to trust her ears more. The silky, brown lioness waited with solemn patience.
