Long, relaxed muscles flexed smoothly under the golden pelt of the lioness as she hauled herself up rock after rock, her long tail twitching back and forth in boredom. Her long face lowered to the stone surface as her whiskers quavered in a sniff. Home. With a satisfied inhale, Anshira slowly slid down onto her belly near the top of the rocky formation. Her hind legs lay limply off the edge, and her forepaws were tucked against her soft, creamy chest. She closed her eyes, and felt the warm rays of the sun slowly warm her body, as the star rose higher and higher, creeping up the sky.
A couple of times flies and mosquitoes tried to anger her, but she simply swatted them away with a flick of her ear, or a blink of her eye. But the insect riddance aside, Anshira lay quite still. Why, if she didn't have to shift position every now and then to avoid stiffening her muscles and joints, one could think she was carved out of the mineral she lay atop just then! Although regarded as a skill amongst mankind, it was, in fact, a common gift in the feline family. Even those lumbering tigers could lay unmoving for their fair share of the day.
Anshira looked over the dry and grassy fields, her tail tip tapping against the stone, her eyelids dropping lazily as she basked in the sun's warm rays. Her breathing was steady, deep. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Doing nothing for minutes, hours. If it was possible to stay awake so long, and if the pride didn't need to hunt every day in hopes to bring back a meal, she could just sit there for days. It was as if she didn't even tire or get bored.

[ mind if I join ? ]
Short, stubby yet strong-looking limbs carried the scruffy cub with a lioness's grace as she wandered about, tuftless tail waving absentmindedly. Her Mother was sleeping, her Father out somewhere, and her brother? Annoying the other lions, of course! She smirked, showing off her still-growing fangs as she let her amber eyes roam, taking in everything around her. She was feeling restless, and though her Mother had given both Falcor and her strict order to sleep, she had disobeyed - it wasn't her fault she couldn't sleep - and instead headed out to calm her spirit. Maybe she could sneak back into the den before her Mother awoke...
The small scruffy female cub growled silently to herself. If they weren't sleeping, they were out, the useless lumps of fur. Wasn't there always supposed to be someone up to watch the cubs? Someone to play with them? The light golden-brown lioness snorted. So much for that. But wait - what was this? A golden pelted specimen, a female, one that stood out - it was Anshira, laying near the top of the denning rocks, basking in the sun's warm rays. Tikaani grinned - this was more than she'd asked for. Maybe Anshira would play with her!
As stealthily as she could, Tikaani carefully climbed the rocks, hopping precariously from one to the other. With each hop her Ares-ish - Ares, she had heard, was a skilled tiger, who was a Father-to-be to a litter of cubs, and Tikaani being from the weird family, believed that some tigers were good, and thus wanted to make friends with the unborn tigers, made her use Ares as a human might use 'God' - grin widened, her heart beat a little faster, and her muscles worked a little harder. There! Crouching, she wriggled her haunches, preparing...
She launched herself at Anshira, pouncing the older cat, in a hopefully playful way.

With her back to the cub, Anshira's scarred mouth twisted into a smirk. Tikaani, the cub who should've been asleep back in her den - wherever it was - attempted to sneak up on a grown lioness. Finding a little heart deep within herself, Anshira forced herself not to turn around and ruin the cubs' fun. Instead, she pretended as though she was oblivious to the scratchings of claw on rock, and her small weight hitting surfaces over and over.
It wasn't long before she felt the weight of a child collide with her ready, strong and tensed shoulder muscles. Her small claws dug into her flesh to steady herself, and although it wasn't exactly painful, Anshira found it worth it to humor the cub. She roared out, flinching back and twirling her head around to nip the child off her back. As much as she disliked jokes, being a current mother of some silly cubs and just plain being female caused the hardy lead huntress to have a soft spot for the young of the pride, no matter how much she forced herself to be strict on them.
Curling her body around to face the lioness in training, she bared her teeth in soft warning, growling; "What're you doing out here, Tikaani? Why aren't you asleep?" As she moved her flesh rippled, making her fur look like the surface of deep waters, her rosettes reflecting the sun's light, her chocolate eyes rich in colour. ooc. it's okay. :] sorry for the crappy finish - writers block. xD [/blockquote]

As her small body made impact with the strong, tense shoulders of the lead huntress, Tikaani unintentionally dug her tiny claws in, to balance herself. The mound of lioness beneath her seem to rumble with the might roar Anshira emitted, before turning to nip the cub off her back. Tikaani flinched under the dark chocolate gaze of the lead huntress, flinched away from the bared teeth and growled warning. The older lioness was indeed very intimidating, and though Tikaani was loathe to admit it, she was actually a little scared of her aunt. Raising her head just the slightest bit, so that her light amber gaze could meet that of Anshira's, and said roughly, "My 'pologies, Anshira. I couldn't sleep - too edgy, restless. I want to be a huntress now, with you and Mama and Takiri and the rest."

Anshira's features were actually very soft, which clashed with her strict personality. She jutted out her chin and lifted her head in a smuggish, proud kind of way, smiling half-kindly at her niece. It's very hard not to adore the young. Especially if you were female - males just didn't understand, no matter how badly they wanted to. Plus, as depressing as this might sound, Anshira liked to scare cubs. Not in a horrible, psychopathic way. She just liked to tease them, and, she liked to know that if they stepped out of line they wouldn't dismiss what she would say as if it were nothing.
"I see," She replied, her brow cocked up, smirking at the cub. "Oh? You want to be a huntress now? She repeated, intrigued and mocking. "Well, for once, me saying you're too young yuo cannot argue with. You cannot run fast enough, anyway."
Anshira got up and stretched out her muscles, her forelegs trembling with the pleasure. Her jaw opened wide and she yawned, her tongue curling up, her ears flattening against her head. As she dropped down a couple of rock-levers, she continued to speak. "And, of course, we don't want you to get hurt. Why don't you play with Falcon or Mikhali. Sure, he might be a bit anti-social, but he wouldn't like the idea of loosing a fight to a girl, I'm sure."
Of course he wouldn't - Mikhali was so wrapped up in his world from 'humiliation', he'd be scared to the bone of having anyone snigger once because a cub less than half his age beat him up. Hah! Anshira loved Mikhali, of course, he was her son, but he was so stressed out. And he was simply a cub! She observed how care-free Tikaani was, standing before her. She wished Mik could be so relaxed as his half sister.
ooc. eh, i guess i'll leave this now, before it gets even shittier. xD and i hope you didn't take that as an insult, btw. xD
